Karen Donato

Violinist Karen Donato is an active performer and teacher in southeast Michigan. Besides her position as Assistant Principal Second Violin with the Flint Symphony, she is a tenured member of the Ann Arbor Symphony and Saginaw Bay Symphony (Principal Second Violin), and plays regularly with other Michigan ensembles. In addition, she maintains a private violin and viola studio at her home in Canton.

Other performances include chamber works at Orchestra Hall in Detroit, Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, and in many venues across the Upper Peninsula.  Ms. Donato also performs with touring Broadway productions, most recently in West Side Story at the Fox Theater (Detroit) and Chicago at The Whiting (Flint).  She and her husband, keyboardist Neil Donato, collaborate regularly to perform both classical and jazz music.

Ms. Donato holds a Master of Music Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Andrew Jennings and Stephen Shipps.
