Katherine Widlar

Kathy Widlar was born into a musical family in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Both parents played horn and piano, and childhood memories include the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra of Cincinnati, founded and conducted by her father, rehearsing on the back patio.  She later played in that orchestra and many others, ranging from being a featured soloist on natural horn at a Baroque festival at Oberlin Conservatory to backing up Yanni.  Widlar attained Masters Degrees in Horn Performance and German Studies at UC and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.  She resides in Northwest Ohio, where in addition to free-lancing, she has been 2nd horn in the Flint Symphony and Principal Horn in the Lakeside Symphony for many years.  She also works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant.
