Bonita (Bonnie) Sweda has played in the first violin section of the Flint Symphony Orchestra since 1983. While growing up in Arizona, she spent several summers at Interlochen and Tanglewood. She then went on to earn a degree in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, while continuing her piano studies. Bonnie has performed with many area orchestras and chamber ensembles, and plays regularly as a freelance and church musician. She is currently the lead musician at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield.
Bonnie maintains a private studio of piano and violin students. For 17 years, she chaired the North Oakland Festival Center, first with the Michigan Federation of Music Clubs and then with the Michigan Music Festival, and continues to judge for various festivals and competitions.
Bonnie has two adult children, Timothy and Jennifer, and lives in West Bloomfield with her husband, Tom.
