Craig Martin

Craig Martin was born and raised in a musical family in Long Island, New York and began his musical training at the age of nine. As a young bassist studying under Marvin Lewis (President of the New York String Teachers Association) he performed with The New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Principle Bassist of The All-Eastern States Orchestra and regional orchestras on Long Island. During the summer months of his youth, Craig attended The School of Orchestral Studies and Tanglewood and went on to Indiana University studying with Murray Grodner.

Craig changed musical direction in 1977 proceeding to tour nationally in rock bands for the next seventeen years. Upon retiring, hired into General Motors where he presently is a Skilled Trades Die Maker.

Returning to his classical roots in 2009, Craig began studying with Stephen Molina of The Detroit Symphony and served in Midland, Birmingham and Macomb Symphonies before joining the FSO in 2013.
