We'd love to have you at the Symphony however you are dressed! Many people like to dress up, but some prefer jeans and a nice top. In consideration to fellow patrons, please keep cologne and perfume to a minimum.
We recommend arriving approximately 30 minutes early. If you pre-ordered your tickets by phone at 888.8CENTER or online at thefim.org, you can pick them up at Will Call. If you still need to purchase your tickets, you may want to arrive a little earlier to beat the crowds.
Enjoy the Pre-Concert Talk one hour before each Classics performance, lobby performances from talented students at the Flint School of Performing Arts, and The Whiting's concessions. You can even pre-order your refreshments for intermission and avoid the lines!
Valet parking available for only $6, and self-parking is complimentary in the Whiting, Sloan Museum, and Flint Youth Theatre lots.
The Whiting's usher staff and volunteers will help you find your seat as you enter the theater. Need to find the restroom, the coat check, or concessions? Just ask the ushers in the black vests and they are happy to help.
Most Symphony concerts are approximately two hours in length, including one 20-minute intermission.
Great question! Some pieces the Symphony plays have more than one section, or movement. Traditionally, you clap only at the very end of the piece. How do you know when it's really the end? When the conductor lets their hands down by their sides, it's the end. But if you feel moved by the music and need to express it, clap away!
Nothing! The best preparation you can do is to come with an open mind and heart, ready to enjoy your evening.
We offer a Pre-Concert Talk, fun and informative talks one hour before each performance, and in-depth Program Notes in the evening's program insert and online.
